Fast forward 2 years and there still was no proper 60FPS patch. Next morning, before I got breakfast I had the game running at proper speed with high framerates. Since the patch is meant to be used with Vblank at which doubles the max framerate, this lets us get a correct game speed at 60FPS. Be sure to check for the ideal settings for this game in our wiki. RPCS3 advances fast and the ideal settings may change from week to week.
Of course as the emulator continues to improve further, the system requirements will continue to drop lower and lower. It is for this reason that FPS counters, even third party software like Afterburner will improperly report 60FPS at all times with the patch enabled because the game is outputting duplicate frames.
This is not a bug, its just an unfortunate result of how the game works. To properly measure frame-rates you will need to use tools to analyse video footage, or enable the debug overlay and look out for when the draw calls change. I hope you enjoy the patch. I have sadly just found a game braking issue with the patch. In the fight with P the big robot boss at the end of the return to the Junk Heaphalf-way through P will fly around the arena. At 60fps, P will fly outside of the walls of the arena. Sometime he will not return at all, sometimes he gets stuck in a wall.
Either way, he will not land on the main platform for you to make the final attack on the Shade. Luckily there is a save point right before this fight. Setting your frame cap to 30fps fixes the fight. Lignum Member.

Does anyone have any idea how to prevent this? Posts: 3 Threads: 1 Joined: Aug Reputation: 0. I have tried different settings and can't rid rid of the black bars going across the top and bottom of the window. Any suggestions? RumikoTheFox Member. Posts: 1 Threads: 0 Joined: Sep Reputation: 0. They always show up during cutscenes.New to emulation?

Send the moderators a message if you'd like a user flair reflecting that. You can get pretty far by looking for "special" numbers in the executable, like 30, or 0.
But if that doesn't work then you're going to need the ability to read and write some assembly, and reverse what the game is doing yourself. Almost certainly not, this game seems to have two separate framerate caps, so I don't see that being likely.
Btw Is Nier fully playable right now? I remember they was 60FPS video but people said they were some issues. The lighting issue you see in most YouTube videos is still not fixed. The game is fully playable if you can look past that issue.
At 60 FPS, P would fly outside of the arena or get stuck in a wall. Luckily there is a save point right before that fight, so you can save, switch to 30 FPS, do the fight, save, then switch back to 60 FPS. But if we don't "kill" beepy we'd never get to see toobies butt if I recall the lore correctly.
NieR de PS3 ya corre a 60 FPS en el emulador RPCS3
As for the lighting, the flickering dynamic exposure is hopefully going to be fixed in the coming weeks via an upcoming feature called mipmap gathering. It will affect many other games as well. Stay tuned for that one.
I'm planning to upgrade my PC, where everything sucks, except the TI I got in a pretty good deal a while back I guess.
Looking to go rather cheap with a Ryzen 5 and matching stuff around that - that enough to run the ps3 emu really well? The is not bad, and I think it'll be enough for this game for the most part, but since it's a Ryzen, it'll need a good pair of RAM sticks, and performance will be always better on Linux. If you want to stay in the AMD way of things, anything up to the X worths it. The X is not going to be as good of a choice as the rest however, due to it's chip layout, so I personally wouldn't grab that.
Dunno if it's worth it. Just to note, I just built a system with amghz ram, and an rx running Manjaro Linux and nier runs great with the 60 fps patch. Windows 10 should be good by now, they updated it with a CPU scheduler that should make Ryzen stuff happier and give better performance, but from what I understand, LInux has had that and its implementation is more mature.
I bought the collector's edition of this when it came out years ago, it's been sitting on my shelf and I have been slowly waiting for this day for the game to actually be playable enough to actually enjoy. Well my first PS3 was the regular Slim.
Set over one thousand years after this, the game puts the player in control of the titular protagonist Nier, as he attempts to find a cure for an illness, known as the Black Scrawl, to which his daughter Yonah has succumbed. The gameplay borrows elements from various video game genres, occasionally switching between them and the main role-playing-based gameplay.
The game was developed to appeal both to older players and to players outside Japan, where the developer was based. The music was composed by Keiichi Okabe, head of Monaca, a music composition studio, and has sparked the release of several albums.
Nier was released to mixed reception; reviewers praised the story, characters and soundtrack and were mixed in their opinions of how well the disparate gameplay elements were connected.
The execution of some gameplay elements was criticized, notably the side quests, and especially the graphics which were regarded as substandard. Despite this, the game acquired acclaim among players over time, becoming a cult classic. Only options that deviate from the default configuration to ensure best performance are listed below. The full list of default options is available here. After the point-of-no-return at the final dungeon of the game, the game will freeze and crash during the cutscenes when using the Vulkan renderer.
In order to bypass this, users are required to either skip the cutscenes or play the final sequence with the OpenGL renderer. This issue is tracked as part of Issue Warning, contains major spoilers regarding the final boss battle.
Note that you'll need to enter the name again at a later point in the game, so do not enable native UI immediately after the first dialog prompt. Be sure to revert the Framelimit setting to Auto the default value. To work around this, set your "Resolution Scale Threshold" to x This does cause Depth of Field to become more pixelated.
